In partnership with the Denver Resource for Awareness and Prevention, AYO hosted Family Dinner Day. AYO and other community resources shared with Aurora families the importance of eating dinner and being physically active as a family. Evidence shows that youth who eat dinner with their families have fewer incidents of substance and alcohol related abuse. These same youth have stronger relationships with their family members and in many cases are more engaged in school. This is encouraging information for all families and more reason to eat a healthy dinner and stay physically active together. Our event highlighted this important message with activities and support material for youth and their families. Several community resources came out to support the message, these included: Aurora Public Library, Aurora Parks and Recreation, Aurora Police Department, Nurturing Fatherhood Program, Sam's #3, Noodles and Company, and Walgreens who offered free flu shots.
