CompuGirls Summer Program Comes to a Close!

July 16, 2014

AYO enjoyed hosting the CompuGirls Program for 8 weeks this summer of 2014.  CompuGirls is a National Science Foundation Funded grant project that aims to connect adolescent females of color with the emerging and most often male dominated science, technology, engineering, and math fields.  CompuGirls accomplishes our main mission by teaching technology skills, promoting change in communities using technology, and understanding how issues surrounding social justice influence the world. CompuGirls Summer Program took place at Aurora Strong Resilience Center in conjunction with Aurora Youth Options.
CompuGirls teaches digital video creation, HTML design, computational thinking, and other curriculum.  Additionally, it provides assistance in college readiness with resume building, leadership, instruction, and the possibility to engage in an internship at the end of the experience. AYO greatly appreciated being a part of this wonderful program!
