May Mentor Program Monthly Activity

May 12, 2012

On Saturday, May 12th AYO Mentor program held their May monthly activity at the Brunswick Zone Heather Ridge bowling alley. The event was a combined focus of community service, life skills, and a fun time bowling. It was a huge hit with over thirty youth and mentors in attendance!
The day began with youth being introduced to entry level positions, some of which were available to be filled. The positions offer on the job training. Current high school-aged employees of Brunswick Zone talked with the group, answered question about the many positions held in a bowling alley, and specifically how one young employee got his job. Youth also learned the process of applying for a job and had the opportunity to participate in mock interviews with the manager. The day ended with pizza for lunch and a great time bowling together. Yes, a day to remember with a unique learning experience involved!
